New to Us?

Your First Appointment

The new patient journey begins with booking an appointment with one of our reception team. This can be done by telephone or email through our website. Our reception team are able to answer any queries you may have regarding the various treatment options we offer at the practice from routine restorative work to more advanced dental implant therapy and tooth whitening.

When you arrive for your consultation we will ask you fill out a confidential medical history questionnaire and this will be discussed with you in private in the surgery.

Once in the surgery we will discuss with you whether you are experiencing any problems with your mouth or if you have any concerns regarding the cosmetic appearance of your teeth and if you have any specific treatment requirements.

A full clinical examination will be performed looking closely at your teeth, gums and jaw joints. Small intra-oral X-rays will be taken if necessary and reviewed before the end of the consultation. In some cases it may be necessary to take further extra-oral X-rays to get a bigger picture of specific problem areas or teeth e.g. wisdom teeth. These larger X-rays will incur an additional cost of which we will advise you accordingly at the time.

At the end of the consultation we will discuss our findings and possible treatment options with you. We will provide you with a printed treatment plan and estimate of costs (there may be two or three different options) which you are welcome to take home and peruse before making a final decision. We are always happy to answer any further questions you may have either by phone, email or you are welcome to book a second short consultation at no extra charge.

Once you have made the decision to proceed with treatment we will ensure that the treatment flows smoothly and that you are happy with every aspect of your treatment.

The cost of a new patient consultation at The Mermaid Dental Surgery is £100. This fee includes a full clinical examination, two small intra-oral X-rays and a written report.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Mermaid Dental Surgery.
